Golden Isles Presbyterian Church began as a Bible study in the early 1980's. In 1988 Golden Isles Presbyterian Mission was formed and affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America denomination. The first worship service, with 11 families, was held in April, 1989. On May 24, 1992 GIPC was formed as a self-supporting church and began meeting in a storefront until God, through His people, graciously provided our current location at 48 Hampton Point Drive, St. Simons Island, in August 1997.

In 1994 The Whitefield School was founded as a ministry of Golden Isles Presbyterian Church. In 2007 the school was moved to independent status. In July 2009 the school relocated to a new facility and changed their name to St. Simons Christian School. Please go here to be redirected to the school's website.
